Born in the Black Forest, Germany, Julia grew up roaming the woods of Grimm’s fairy tales on her broomstick horse. It must have been her obsession with fairy tales that drew her to Hollywood, the city where fairy tales still come true, right? A graduate of UCLA Film School and the American Film Institute, Julia wrote, directed and produced award-winning short films and features, including the recently released independent comedy feature “Visioneers.” Her unlimited energy, optimism and hands-on attitude for all things impossible earned her the nickname “film set fairy.”

After graduating AFI, Julia’s passion for storytelling led her into freelance writing for the ever-growing online market. She wrote for the LA Examiner and created content for various web-based companies, such as Visual Travel Tours, Cosmotourist, and Shmoop. She braved the dangerous world of blogs, widgets, and tweets and eventually learned to harness the social networking engine to drive buzz, not headaches, to unearth niche markets and to adapt complex story material into web-friendly content.

A published writer herself, Julia now employs her writing, film and new media background at J Squared Pr to help authors find creative new ways to raise awareness for their books, expand their audience base and generate a larger cultural dialogue around the subjects and themes of their books. A woman of her word, Julia is also strongly involved in the growth of literary communities including the LA Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association and the non-profit mentoring organization WriteGirl.

After moving all over L.A., Julia finally found her home in the secluded hills of Topanga, living her very own fairy tale with her beloved husband and filmmaker Jared Drake.

Jamie is originally from Southern California, but considers herself a citizen of the world after living on three different continents before the age of 20. Growing up, Jamie played every sport known to man (and some entirely unknown like tunnel bat chasing and cardboard box racing). She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she played softball and studied Women Studies and Theatre and Film Arts. In college, she spent most of her time behind a softball mitt, behind a camera, behind a theatre curtain, or behind a Zamboni (she would like to thank her boss at the campus ice rink for not firing her when she crashed said Zamboni...more than once). At CU Boulder, Jamie directed, wrote, produced, and stage-managed many theatre productions, ice shows, and student films, as well as cultivated her slightly obsessive love for books about radical political movements and obscure historical events.

After graduation, she moved back to Southern California and began working in film publicity, where she was able to combine her background in film with her love for event planning. There she worked on many diverse film publicity campaigns such as "Traffic", "Memento", "The Shipping News", "Van Wilder", "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and "Donnie Darko". She coordinated many high profile film premieres, after-parties and film junkets, as well as worked on the publicity campaigns for several films at the Sundance Film Festival, Outfest, and The Los Angeles Film Festival. She also did ongoing corporate marketing for several production companies, film festivals, and film organizations.

Looking for a change, Jamie then opened her own Personal Training business where she specialized in women’s fitness, sports conditioning, and weight loss. Better known as “sir” by her clients, Jamie loved nothing more then helping her clients reach their true potential through lots of blood, sweat and tears. Being the true multi-tasker she is, Jamie also worked as a freelance publicist and event planner where she planned large scale events such as corporate functions, celebrity parties, red carpet events, literary readings, theatrical productions, trade shows exhibits and weddings for private clients.

At J Squared PR, Jamie is so thrilled to now be working with writers and books, two of her favorite things on earth. She has a special place in her heart for books about cultural movements, film and television, pregnancy, birth, fitness and motherhood, as well as any book that is good enough to lure her away from American Idol.

"Jamie and Julia were an invaluable part of my book marketing team. Their enthusiasm, web skills, and ability to drill down into niche markets were truly impressive. I could not have handled my book release with even half of the grace or organization I managed if not for their help."
